The Fabulous Years of Popular Song

A return visit by Tony Jacobs with "The Fabulous Years of Popular Song". Tony Jacobs (SYD LAWRENCE ORCHESTRA, FRIDAY NIGHT IS MUSIC NIGHT AND APPEARANCES WITH THE PASADENA ROOF ORCHESTRA) and his regular accompanist Jim Barry (BBC RADIO ORCHESTRA) celebrate what many regard as the golden era of popular song: the 1920s, '30s and '40s. Songwriters such Rodgers and Hart, Irving Berlin, Harry Warren, the Gershwins and many others are paid tribute to alongside performers such as Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Harry James.

June
Midsummer Dance with Wye Jazz

September / October
All Together Now: The DIY Old Tyme Music Hall organised by John Prior.
Date to be decided

This is an opportunity for all the old and underused party-pieces in our village to be brought to the fore!
So if you or anyone you know would like to contribute please let us know. We already have one or two willing volunteers! "All Together Now" brings a Chairman "Mr Richard Berry", a talented piano-accompanist "Miss Helen Woods" and the performing skills of "Mr Jocular Johnny Prior", to ensure the evening goes with a professional swing... but of course, in true Varieties tradition, the evening is "mainly for yourselves".
